What should our aim be - Ansem - 29-03-2012 01:52 PM
So I'm filling up the language section, although it does take quite some effort to make the stuff.
However, so far, you, the current members don't really seem to feel any need for it.
I want to know which direction the memberbase would want to go.
Should I keep focusing on both the language as culture ( anime/manga is Japanese culture ) or drop one of them :/
What could improve this site so that you could persuade your friends to join as well.
Together we can make this a pleasant and open community for everyone to be welcome. ( except if you're a spammer )
Communities grow because of their members, so I want to make things better for the members so the community may continue to grow )

Hey, the language section is very useful. Don't stop filling that up. However, I don't quite get why there are three Japanese writing styles (kanji, katakana, and hiragana). Can you please explain that?
And also, can you put up some frequently used phrases. Usually, when learning a language, these are the first lessons. Things like greetings, asking the time, asking for directions, introducing yourself, etc. They are very useful because on the occasion that you go to Japan, conversational skill are the first ones to be put to test.
I think you should not give up on both the Japanese language and culture because they go hand in hand. I can see a huge potential for this site because it really is very informative and interactive. As for improvements, let me get back to you on that!

Exam tomorrow about Renaissance, Voltaire, Luther, Montesque with Trias politica.
After that I'll continue filling it up tomorrow and friday.
I'll do as you suggested and I'll make more lessons and "practical" examples after I finished the Hiragana, problem with that is that it's very repetitive of copying the audo and image with details over and over and takes about 10/15 minutes for one.
Glad to hear there's actual interest in potential for it ( but probably isn't shown yet as it's still to empty to actually use, my fault! )
For your question, make a thread in the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., so it gets a new discussion and it won't overtake an announcement thread.
I'll be happy to explain you there, it's not as difficult as you might think, but more difficult that you'd like

Good luck again with your exam. Renaissance is quite an interesting topic to me.
I know it takes a lot of patience to upload the lessons. I appreciate them so much. Wish I could help you in some way but I don't know where you get the materials.
Anyway, heading over to classroom now.

So what are your plans, Ansem? I noticed you haven't posted anything in a while.

Really have no idea what to do next, I just need a direction for myself.
I want to build forth on the tutorials, but what topics should I continue on.
I want to do verbs and counters, but should I do all verbs in one big lesson or each form one at a time.
There's a reason it says 'writers block' below my name
I'd really appreciate any tips, recommendations or just requests.
Anything that puts me a goal.

Personally, I feel it's quite simple.
The goal of this website should be a fun place to discuss about Japanese culture and language.
They both go hand in hand in my opinion.
Being able to provide resources for learning about culture and language.
I do like the idea of having a Japanese only thread so I'll probably be there quite often.
Also, the last goal is because this is a small thread. Get the thread to be more popular.

I think you should first add a "Feedback and Suggestions" board.
It would surely help the forum out.

I actually planned to cover that with the private inquiries forum, but maybe you are right, I'll think about it if more people would find it useful.

Focus on the language, in my opinion. Many people want to achieve fluency one day, and focusing on that alone would help everybody, especially me.
